Jingle Bells!

This holiday season I will tie bells to my shoelaces and dust off my reindeer antlers as I participate in the Jingle Bell Run/Walk® for Arthritis, a 5K fun run/walk to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. And YOU can help, too!

Won’t you sponsor me in my effort to raise funds to fight one of the nation’s most common causes of disability – ARTHRITIS? Arthritis affects more than 46 million Americans, including 300,000 children, costing the U.S economy over $128 billion annually. The Arthritis Foundation needs our help.

Training update...

SHIN SPLINTS! Oh I DO hate you!

http://www.fitnessmethod.com/secrets-for-overcoming-shin-splints/

I've been suffering from shin splints for a few weeks now. I ran tonight and didn't feel too bad. I'm doing the combo- Ice, Ibuprofen and rest at this time! Hopefully things will start looking up and I can really dig in to training!

A guy at my gym is a personal trainer and will videotape me running...then slow down my stride and evaluate the way I land on my feet...and correct my stride if that is the problem! Pretty neat eh! I'll keep you posted!!!

Hey Granny!!!!

I was inspired to make a granny square blanket after seeing a patient with one at work this week. I inspected the patients blanket and said..this is crochet...and I can do this! So....I found a pattern online....it's basically 3 double crochet around and around with corners being 3 double crochet, ch 3, 3 double crochet.....

This is where I found my pattern. This blogger used scraps of yarn....

I used Vanna's Choice Baby- Lamb (white), Goldfish (orange) and Sweet Pea (green).

Here is what I have so far!

It's a great project to take with you....easy pattern to follow and it goes pretty fast! I will post a final picture once completed!

Hitting the road running!

Yes! I have a goal to run a 1/2 marathon! 13.1 miles!

There is a 1/2 marathon in Virginia Beach next March! This gives me plenty of time to 1. start running and 2. start training! Hopefully the luck of the Irish will be with me during this journey!

I have spoken with friends who have completed 1/2's in the past and they have given me a training schedule...I have a app on my iphone to keep me running and tracks my runs....new shoes are needed....but, I think I'm ready!

Any advice, tips, words of encouragement are welcomed!

Sleep Tight...Dont't Let the Bed Bugs Bite!

Sleep Tight Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite...that was a saying that I grew up hearing from my parents, neighbors, friends etc....everyone said it...just like they said hello and goodbye....no one realized that bed bugs we're REAL!!! Back in the 18th century they were a problem...and are a problem AGAIN!!!

I can't deal with a spider, roach, cricket much less a BED BUG!!! It just makes my skin crawl! I guess I'll be investing in nightly Benadryl!

I proposed the idea to my brother to have our Chocolate Lab trained at the K9 Academy in Florida to sniff out Bed Bugs! I think that could be a promising career for Gunny!!!http://www.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2010/09/20/story4.html?b=1284955200%5E3948381
